I am living an unlikely moment of peace. A moment of air before I’m drowning. I have no income, but I have enough cash to last me for now. We are working things out and I’m still terribly unhappy but we haven’t fought for a few days. I truly wish you weren’t spending so much time with your friends because it’s building up a reservoir of resentment. There is disaster coming, I know it. But meanwhile I have found a gentleness in you that I had missed. A flirty affection I haven’t felt in a long time. This week has felt like months. Each passing second is agony without you. And with you it’s at least pleasant. But I feel this must be fleeting. We are avoiding our problems again and I’m terrified that you will leave me for good in a hasty retreat from our feelings. I am hopeful that we can work through these difficult times but we have to work together as a team and we simply haven’t at all for a very long time. I love you and I hope I can learn to live with you.
